History of WES
In 1974, Dr. Mariam Assefa launched World Education Services (WES). It was founded as a non-profit organisation with the mission of assisting international professionals and students in achieving their academic and professional objectives in the United States and Canada. Since that time, WES has been evaluating worldwide academic credentials and has set the bar for quality for more than 45 years.
Its headquarters are in New York, United States. Toronto, Canada, also has operations for it. More than 200,000 certificates are evaluated by WES annually, and they auto-authenticate and define foreign education in terms of American or Canadian standards. According to WES, its credential assessments are advisory judgements that are not legally enforceable.
20,000 academic credentials, 45,000 international institutions, and more than 200 countries' academic certifications are all kept in WES's exclusive database. Source
