The All Indian Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT), established 31 years ago with an innovative mission of promoting computer literacy and technology training in rural areas using the local languages, has now evolved into India's leading national network of ICT-enabled services. AISECT operates through more than twenty thousand centers spanning 28 states and 3 union territories across the country.
Over the years, AISECT has expanded its scope beyond vocational training and computer literacy, encompassing a wide range of activities. These include skill development initiatives, financial inclusion programs, content development, e-learning, and e-governance projects. AISECT has also ventured into the realm of higher education institutions and placement services. Notably, AISECT has established three universities so far: Dr. C V Raman University in Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), AISECT University in Patna (Bihar), and AISECT University in Jharkhand. Additionally, there are plans for the establishment of another university in Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh).
AISECT's remarkable contributions have garnered praise from both national and international organizations. The organization has received numerous prestigious awards over the years, including the Indian IT Innovation Award 2005, NASSCOM IT Innovation Award 2006, i4d Award 2007, Golden Icon in e-Governance Award, NASSCOM Emerge 50 Leader Award, TiE Lumis Partners Entrepreneurship Excellence Award, Schwab Social Entrepreneur Award 2010, and Financial Inclusion Award 2011, among others. AISECT's Hindi Science Magazine, "Electroniki Apke Liye," has also received accolades, including the Rajbhasha Shield Samman by Rashtriya Hindi Academy, Rameshwar Guru Award, Rashtriya Rajbhasa Prachar Samman, Bhartendu Award, and Saraswat Samman.
