Al Falah University was established through the legislative efforts of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, as evidenced by the passage of Act 21 of 2014 under the Haryana Private University Act of 2006, which was subsequently amended in 2014. This establishment was formally notified on May 2, 2014. In addition, Al-Falah University received recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2015, falling under the provisions of sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956.

The university is an initiative of the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which had been operating three colleges on the same campus: Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology (since 1997, graded A by NAAC), Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology (since 2008), and Al Falah School of Education and Training (since 2006, also graded A by NAAC).

Al Falah University is among the pioneers in implementing the Choice-Based Credit System in its semester examinations, following UGC directives in 2015. Furthermore, it offers two-year B.Ed and M.Ed programs, following the guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Situated across 70 acres of lush greenery on the outskirts of Faridabad, specifically in Dhauj, Al Falah University boasts a 350-bedded hospital, compliant with MCI/NMC norms and equipped with MRI facilities. The hospital also provides comprehensive laboratory testing and houses a PTPRC testing lab. X-rays and ultrasound tests are available at the hospital's Image Center, complemented by modern facilities in both outpatient and inpatient departments, including well-equipped operation theaters. Notably, Al Falah Hospital served as a designated Covid-19 treatment center, complete with a separate isolation ward.
