In 2002, the Chitkara Educational Trust established its Punjab campus, strategically located 30 kilometers away from Chandigarh along the Chandigarh–Patiala National Highway. Subsequently, in 2010, Chitkara University was officially founded through the enactment of the "Chitkara University Act" by the Punjab State Legislature.

Recognized by the government, Chitkara University holds the authority to confer degrees in accordance with Sections 2(f) and 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956, solidifying its status as the premier educational institution in Punjab.

Nestled in a sprawling campus equidistant from major cities like Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Ambala, and Patiala, the university prides itself on offering a diverse range of multidisciplinary programs, all meticulously crafted to meet industry demands. This student-centric approach has earned Chitkara University a well-deserved reputation as one of North India's foremost private universities.

From comprehensive business management courses to specialized programs in nursing and cutting-edge medical laboratory technologies, and from robust computer science, electronics, and mechanical engineering programs to top-tier offerings in hotel management and architecture, Chitkara University, Punjab, stands as a rich repository of educational excellence.

The university delivers its curriculum in spacious, state-of-the-art, amphitheater-style classrooms equipped with modern information and communication technology (ICT) resources. Moreover, it offers well-equipped, contemporary laboratories to facilitate hands-on learning experiences. Furthermore, Chitkara University encourages students to actively engage in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities by providing them with access to various clubs and societies on campus.
