Desh Bhagat University in Mandi Gobindgarh was established through the Desh Bhagat University Act passed by the Punjab Government. The university draws its inspiration from the heroic contributions of Sr. Lal Singh Ji, a freedom fighter who dedicated himself to India's struggle for independence. In 1972, the government of India recognized his remarkable social work and services to the freedom movement by awarding him the prestigious "Tamra Patra." This significant recognition led to the university being named Desh Bhagat in his honor. Notably, Desh Bhagat University holds the distinction of being the first privately managed university in Punjab to achieve both the coveted 12B status and accreditation from NAAC.
