Guru Kashi University owes its existence to the Balaji Education Trust, Talwandi Sabo, which was established in 1997 and served as the cornerstone for educational endeavors in this region. The institution's journey began with the establishment of its inaugural college, Guru Gobind Singh Polytechnic, in 1998. Over time, it expanded its offerings to include undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
In 2001, Guru Gobind Singh College of Engineering & Technology was founded, followed by the establishment of Guru Gobind Singh College of Education in 2005. The institution continued to evolve with the addition of GGS Institute of IT and Research and GGS College of Nursing in 2006. Finally, in 2011, Guru Kashi University was officially established through Punjab Act No. 37 of 2011.
Since its inception, the university has experienced steady growth and has been serving the educational needs of the local, national, and global communities amidst the serene natural beauty of its surroundings.
