As part of its mission, the trust established the Indian Institute of Advanced Research in Koba, Gandhinagar. In 2003, the foundation stone for the institute was ceremoniously laid by the esteemed Shri Narendra Bhai Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat. In 2006, the Institute saw the establishment of its first Center of Excellence, the School of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology. This significant milestone was officially inaugurated by the President of India, His Excellency Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, in April 2006.
In August 2011, the Government of Gujarat, through the Gujarat Private Universities Amendment Act, 2011, granted university status to the Institute. Since then, the University has continued to expand, introducing educational and research programs in physical sciences, engineering, and business.
The Foundation envisions that the University will serve as a role model institution, conducting education and research that genuinely impacts our society, economy, and environment.
