TDU holds a distinguished status as a Center of Excellence in Medicinal Plants and Traditional Knowledge. The ethno-medicinal garden serves as a "Knowledge Park," offering a visual exposition of over 1500 medicinal plant species hailing from diverse biogeographical regions across India. Remarkably, it stands as perhaps the largest living collection of medicinal botanicals within a single location.

The TDU Campus boasts a distinctive garden thoughtfully landscaped using exclusively native medicinal plants. This garden comprises more than 46 theme-based demonstration plots, showcasing plants of various habits, including herbs, shrubs, climbers, and trees. Notably, it also houses many rare, red-listed species that serve as subjects of observation and study.

Informative signages accompany these plants, providing visitors with insights into the ethnobotanical significance of each species.

Our diverse array of visitors includes students, medical professionals, traditional healers, traders, homemakers, and researchers. Here, visitors can not only appreciate the beautifully landscaped garden but also gain knowledge about plant cultivation, their uses, and simple procedures for preparing herbal remedies for primary healthcare. The garden's current holdings encompass more than 175 threatened or endemic taxa, along with 500 taxa housed in the nursery.
