The Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (MMYVV) was founded under the provisions of Act No. 37 of 1995 by the Madhya Pradesh Government, as detailed in Gazette notification no. 537 dated November 29, 1995. The university's central administration is situated at the geographical heart of India, in the village of Karaundi, District-Katni (formerly part of Jabalpur district) in Madhya Pradesh.
