Sardar Patel University, a State Private University, was established under the auspices of the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha through MADHYA PRADESH ACT NO. 26 OF 2011. This significant milestone was achieved under the provisions of the MADHYA PRADESH NIJI VISHWAVIDYALAYA (STHAPANA AVAM SANCHALAN) SANSHODHAN ADHINIYAM 2011. The Act received the assent of the Governor on the 23rd of July, 2018, and was first published in the "Madhya Pradesh Gazette (Extra-ordinary)," dated the 28th of July, 2018.

According to the provisions of the Act, the university's management is overseen by a distinguished Board of Governors, presided over by Shri Diwakar Singh, the Honorable Chairperson of Vindhya Shiksha Samiti, Sardar Patel Campus, Gaykhuri, Balaghat, M.P. Shri Diwakar Singh is also the inaugural Chancellor of Sardar Patel University.

The serene campus of Sardar Patel University spans nearly 80 acres of land, graciously owned by Vindhya Shiksha Samiti. It is located in the heart of Sardar Patel Knowledge City, Waraseoni Road, Dongariya, Balaghat, M.P., offering an ideal environment for academic pursuits.
