Sarala Birla University operates as a self-financed private unitary university, established under the Sarala Birla University Act of 2017 (Jharkhand Act No. 13 of 2017), which was enacted by the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in 2017. The Sarala Birla University Act of 2017 was officially published in the Jharkhand Gazette on July 4th, and this publication was confirmed through the Law Department Notification No. 504, dated July 4th, 2017. According to the provisions of the Act, the university's management is overseen by a Board of Governors, presided over by Smt. Jayashree Mohta, the Honorable Chairperson of Bharat Arogya & Gyan Mandir and the inaugural Chancellor of Sarala Birla University.
Situated on a sprawling 60-acre expanse of land owned by Bharat Arogya & Gyan Mandir at Birla Campus, Vill - Ara, P.O. – Mahilong, Ranchi-Purulia Highway, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India, the SBU Ranchi campus enjoys a lush and serene natural environment.
The primary objective of SBU, Ranchi, is to establish new benchmarks for quality education across various domains, encompassing Technical, Professional, General, and Medical Education, not only in Jharkhand but also in India and beyond.
SBU is dedicated to fostering the study of national integrity, social justice, secularism, democratic principles, international understanding, and the application of a scientific approach to address the multifaceted challenges facing society as a whole.
