SHRI DHARMASTHALA MANJUNATHESHWARA UNIVERSITY in Dharwad was established in accordance with the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University Act of 2018 (Karnataka Act No. 19 of 2018) and officially commenced operations on December 19, 2018. It operates as a State Private University in the state of Karnataka, with a unitary focus, located in Sattur, Dharwad.
This esteemed university is under the patronage of the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Education (SDME) Society, situated in Ujre, D.K. Karnataka. The SDME Society is a prominent non-profit educational organization, operating under the sacred guidance of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala and led by its distinguished president, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade.
The SDM Educational Society has a rich history in the fields of Education and Healthcare, dating back to 1903 when it initiated with the establishment of the Gurukula "Siddhavana" by Late Shri Manjayya Heggade. Subsequently, the SDME Trust was founded by Late Shri D. Ratnavarma Heggade. This legacy has been upheld and brought to its current esteemed status by Shri D. Veerendra Heggade.
