The ICFAI University, Tripura, henceforth referred to as the university, came into existence in 2004 as a result of the Tripura Act 8 of 2004, passed by the state legislature. The university has received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
