TDU is a renowned Center of Excellence specializing in Medicinal Plants and Traditional Knowledge. Within our campus, the ethno-medicinal garden stands as a remarkable "Knowledge Park," offering a visual introduction to an extensive collection of over 1500 species of medicinal plants sourced from diverse biogeographical regions across India. This garden arguably houses the most extensive live collection of medicinal botanicals in a single location.

The TDU Campus boasts a distinctive garden meticulously landscaped exclusively with indigenous medicinal plants. Within this garden, you'll discover more than 46 theme-based demonstration plots featuring a wide range of plant species, including herbs, shrubs, climbers, and trees. Among these, you can also observe and study several rare red-listed species.

Each plant in the garden is accompanied by informative signage that provides insights into the ethnobotanical uses of the plant. Our diverse range of visitors includes students, medical professionals, traditional healers, traders, homemakers, and researchers. They can not only appreciate the beautifully designed landscape but also gain knowledge about plant cultivation, their various applications, and simple techniques for preparing herbal remedies for basic healthcare needs.

Currently, the garden houses an impressive collection that includes over 175 threatened or endemic taxa, along with 500 taxa in the nursery, further contributing to our mission of preserving and advancing knowledge in the field of medicinal plants and traditional wisdom.
